Sea of Triathlon
Photographs by Michal Peleg

June 2- August 31, 2009

In celebration of the JCC Maccabi Games in San Francsisco, August 2009

Michal Peleg is known for her ability to draw the viewer into a precise moment in time. “Capturing the action at its peak is my ultimate goal,” she says. “This requires very strong instincts, planning, accuracy and skill. This is a reflex I have always had. I love to take photographs that show action which the human eye is not quick enough to isolate, identify or distinguish.”

She presents the triathletes as valiant warriors in action. Some present them as marines about to emerge from the water on their way to conquer a new land. Others show the tactical pelotons of the cyclists, while the runners are depicted as legions of soldiers on their way to attack. The images are created outdoors digitally, and then printed on canvas. No filters are used, and no lab or computer manipulation is utilized.
