Judith (Yehudit) Katzir, a bestselling author in Israel, has published two collections of stories and novellas, two novels and three children`s books, many of which have been translated into a multitude of languages. She is currently an editor at Hakibbutz Hameuchad Publishing House and teaches creative writing. Katzir will discuss her most recent title, Dearest Anne.

During her Stanford appearance Katzir will present a special screening of the Israeli film “Family Secrets” (1998). Based on her novella Schlafstunde, the film tells the coming-of-age story of two Israeli teenagers, cousins Rivi and Shauli, who are forced to face the ugliness of the adult world during their summer vacation.

Following the screening Katzir will discuss the film with the audience. The film is in Hebrew with English subtitles. The discussion following the film will be in Hebrew.
