Israel Philharmonic Orchestra's
Tribute to Leonard Bernstein
Concert and celebration:
Saturday, February 9, 2008
Leonard Bernstein’s music famously combined the sophistication and elegance of the symphony with the tuneful gusto and rhythmic drive of jazz and Broadway. Bringing Bernstein’s music gloriously to life, Michael Barrett will conduct fifty members of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and four top vocal soloists: soprano Michelle Areyzaga, mezzo soprano Elizabeth Shammash, tenor Jeffrey Picon and baritone Hugh Russell. Join host Jamie Bernstein, the composer’s daughter, on this colorful tour of her father’s irresistible music, including selections from four of his best-loved musicals: Candide, On the Town, Wonderful Town and West Side Story.
Champagne and dessert celebration immediately following performance.
