As Israel approaches its sixtieth anniversary, the Jewish community of the greater Bay Area has initiated this new website, presenting this year’s rich array of cultural and communal Israeli and Israel-affiliated programming.

Over the past six decades, the state of Israel has nurtured a thriving and diverse culture – in music, literature, visual, performing and cinematic arts.

Israeli filmmakers, musicians and writers have developed a strong local following.  These audiences – within the Jewish community and beyond – have turned the Bay Area into a thriving hub of Israeli culture, and have created a demand for the latest and the cutting-edge from Israel.  Programmers and producers from local agencies have heard this demand and have responded accordingly, bringing Israeli culture to the Bay Area on a regular basis.

In preparation for Israel’s sixtieth anniversary, the leading Jewish cultural organizations of the community convened and decided to join forces and coordinate planning of Israeli cultural programming for the coming year, and to produce this communal calendar.

This online calendar provides continuously updated and enhanced information about all the Israeli cultural events planned for the coming year.
